In this section I will post hints and tips that I think will help keep your oven in tip top condition. It will be updated fairly regularly as and when something springs to mind.

Many Thanks – Oven Cleaning Solutions.

Use your grill at least once a week
Always make sure you use your grill at least once a week. Not using your grill causes dirt to get burnt onto the element itself. Elements cannot be cleaned manually as they are too brittle. They are designed to clean themselves. If you do not use your grill at least once a week the only way to clean it will be to burn off the dirt. When the grill gets really dirty this means smoking your house out. Also using the grill means the roof of the oven stays in reasonable condition as it also burns the dirt from the ceiling.
Do not leave grill pans on the bottom of the oven
If you do this the heat gets trapped inbetween the grill pan and the bottom of the oven. This means that the thermometer thinks that the oven is cooler that it actually is and so doesn’t cut out the element. When this happens the oven keeps getting hotter and hotter until the enamel cracks. People usually do this to try and keep the bottom of the oven cleaner. If this is the case you can buy oven liners that are made for this.
Metal extractor filters are designed to go in the dishwasher
I do many jobs where people have really dirty metal extractor filters. These are the modern type that do not require a paper filter behind them. They are usually part of a stainless steel extraction unit. If you have an extractor like this the filters should be cleaned in the diswasher at least once a month. The reason for this tip is because most people who own these filters do not realise what they are designed for… hope this helps.
